General Risk Assessments and Fire Risk Assessments
Assessments of the premises need to be carried out, dependent on the type of business as a minimum, annually to provide insight into the daily operation of the business premises. They provide information on the safety of the premises, provide a structure to highlight any risks or potential risks that are present or may arise. The information can be used to create a programme of works to address the defects and ensure compliance. Frequency of risk assessments is dependent on the nature of the business but should be carried out at least once every 12 months.
At TIJ Consulting we can conduct these risk assessments, providing detailed reports with a breakdown and can assist in the development remedial strategies.
General Risk Assessments Audits
These audits are reviews of the assessments and look at the programme of works schedule and works completed. The frequency of the assessment and audits is dependent on the nature of the business, but it is recommended to conduct the audit at regular intervals dependent on the level of risks in the findings of the assessment to ensure that the highlighted risks are addressed. The higher the risk factor the more immediate the response required, but as a minimum no later than 6 months after the assessment.
Safe Systems of Workork
Safe Systems of Work is a procedure or set of procedures designed to remove or reduce risks involved in an operation, ensuring safety for employees. It provides a standardized practices in the workplace for a particular process. This helps to provide a consistency in terms of training and production and from this it helps prevent accidents and injuries, this is particularly true in environments where hazards cannot be eliminated. It therefore provides outlines how tasks should be carried out safely, considering any potential risks and the appropriate control measures. At TIJ Consulting we can assist in this process by undertaking a Specific Risk Assessment needed for the tasks performed, along with a Method Statement which details the way the task is carried out.
Specific Risk Assessment
The Specific Risk Assessment examines the task, the tools, the location, the environment, and the operative. It provides a detailed assessment of risks present, the factors introduced to mitigate them, the training undertaken, and the material with which they work. We can conduct specific risk assessments and provide a detailed report on its findings along with recommendations to reduce risk exposure.
Method Statements
A method statement details the work process of a job, task or project. It provides a detailed description of the works broken down into the order in which actions are to be taken. The purpose is to provide an easy-to-understand list that can ensure all employees or operators are following the same procedure. This ensures a consistent approach, a known product outcome, reduces risks and improves quality. It is particularly useful when there are a number or workers performing the same task or when any number of different workers are collaborating on a job.
At TIJ Consulting we can help you in generating method statements that help provide clarity and compliance, ensure that the process does not create or increase any risks and that it is compliance with the associated Risk Assessment.
